Presidents Day and Lab 02
DAS,Thanks for a great first lab session! The snow and holiday schedule has thrown us off the syllabus a little so please review some important reminders about next week and beyond:
Class Next Week
Due to Presidents Day, MIT is closed Monday. The Monday class
schedule will occur on Tuesday which means NO LECTURE on Tuesday
2/17. Classes resume as normal Wednesday 2/18 so we will have Lab
02 next Wednesday night from 7-9PM in Room 7-429.
Lab Attendance
Lab is not required if you already have the skills taught that
week. Please review the lab handout to determine if you need to
come or not. The Lab 02 Handout will be sent over the weekend.
Assignment 1
Assignment 1 will be handed out at this Wednesday’s Lab and posted
to Stellar for those of you not at lab.
Fab Lab Shop Training
Everyone who has not been trained to use the fabrication shop in
the architecture department will need to get a safety training and
a shop tutorial. If you were trained at another shop at MIT, you
still MUST get trained for the architecture Fab Lab. We will email
you soon with more details.
Looking forward to seeing you next Wednesday!

First Class - Announcements
Hello Design Across Scales,We hope you enjoyed the first class and we're excited to begin working together.
I'm writing to review a few important points from
today:
1. The syllabus is posted on Stellar.
2. Postcard responses: We collected some student information today
at the end of class. If you left early or missed the lecture, you
can find the questions on the Materials page of the Stellar site
(same page as the syllabus). The document is called "DAS -
Postcard Questions - 1st Class." You can respond to the
questions in the body text of an email - no need for a Word doc.
Please do not write more than 2 or 3 sentences for any response. If
you submitted the postcard in person, no need to send anything
else!
3. We understand you're eager to know if you've been
accepted to the class. We will let everyone know their status by
the end of the day Friday and sooner if possible. In the mean time,
thank you for your patience.
4. There is no lab tomorrow, 2/4. Weekly lab sessions will begin
next week.
Please email das_tas@mit.edu with questions and we look forward to seeing you next week.
Thanks,
Jessica
