Brazil Debate Question Update / Deadline Extension

Dear 15.012'ers,

We have fleshed out the Brazil question to have more clarity. Here is the updated question:

The Brazilian economy has dramatically slowed down in the last year and a half. The new forecasts point to a decline of 4 percent of GDP in 2016. Can Brazil weather the present recession with a controlled devaluation and moderate inflation or is Brazil headed towards a full fledged crisis with a massive depreciation and very high inflation (i.e. greater than 25 percent a year)?

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have questions.

In addition, we have agreed to extend the deadline for the debates to Friday March 4th at midnight. This means you will only hear from us on Monday about whether you are presenting in class on Wednesday or Friday.

Thanks so much.

Best,
Tavneet

Macro Debate teams

Class,

Please begin forming teams in anticipation of the debates that will take place at the end of H1.

Students must form teams of 3 or 4 at a maximum. All team members must be registered for the same section and must attend that section on the day of the debate. Each team should pick the name of a country in the world as their team name.

Please begin filling out your team names in the spreadsheet below:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1p2SkE9eMRluOu9Rd7NIeUYSSU5BgqZnw3Flo0AW8Z4c/edit#gid=0

Make sure you sign up in the appropriate section. If you do not have a complete team, and are looking for others to join, please put down your incomplete team so others can join.

Details about the debate questions and presentations can be found on the syllabus.

If you have any questions please let us know.

Best,

Guille, Fran and Antony
