Final Reports Ready for Pickup
16.00 Class-The final reports on the LTA project have been graded and may be picked up in the basket outside my office (33-312).
Final grades for the class have been submitted. As I promised, everyone who did all the work got at least a B. In the end. ~⅔ of the class got A- or above.
I hope you all enjoyed the class and learned something about the nature of aerospace engineering.
Good luck in your final exams and in the rest of your years at MIT.
I look forward to seeing some of you in the space systems design class during your junior or senior years.
Have a good summer!
That's it: 16.00 S16 Over and Out...

Clarification for Final Report
In case there is any confusion, only one report is required for each team. Please indicate individual contributions to the report, either by putting initials with each section or in any other way you think is fair.Announced on 11 May 2016 3:01 p.m. by Jeffrey A Hoffman
Race Results Posted
16.00 Class -Great work yesterday! All teams finally made it through the course, and towards the end we had some really good times recorded.
I have posted the results (weights and times) for flight days 2 and 3, which may be of use to you in preparing your final reports.
All students should come to class tomorrow for a debrief and presentation of awards.
Please bring the final reports for each team to class. Remember to indicate who has contributed to each part of the report.
See you all Thursday at 09:30.

Final Report Guidelines
Here are additions to the outline that Marlyse posted yesterday:16.00 Final Report Suggested Outline
I. Team Roles
II. Design Summary - including detailed descriptions of your control system, structure, and bag and a little bit of the motivation behind these design choices
III. Design Schematics - including clear and dimensioned drawings of your LTA maybe with some information about the weight and flight performance calculations
Note: Photos will help and are recommended, but photos are not a substitute for a good engineering drawing. You can use the performance calculations that were presented during the CDR in the final report
IV. Flight Day Analysis - including detailed descriptions of your vehicle's performance during each of the flight days, comparison with your predictions, and an explanation of differences between predicted and observed behavior. Describe challenges you had, and improvements/design iterations between each flight day.
Note: It is very important to document all changes made to the vehicle after CDR and after each flight day.
V. Cooper-Harper rating of controllability, with explanation for the rating
VI. Further Improvements if the project were to continue.
The final report grading rubric is posted in the LTA section on
Stellar.
