Dear 8.06,

At long last we have sent out the "referee reports" for your term papers. You all should have received one, so please let me know if you didn't get an email with feedback and your grade.

We are working on finishing the rest of the grading, including the final exam, and hope to have your overall grades figured out soon. In the meantime, do please let us know if you see any discrepancy between the online grade for your paper and the one you were just emailed.

lecture notes, review session, 8.06 Physical Review

Dear 8.06,

I have finally uploaded complete lecture notes for the integer quantum Hall effect and the Aharonov-Bohm effect.

I have also made small fixes to some of the other lecture notes. If you are printing these or downloading them please note that I sometimes update them, which is why the first page always contains a "date updated" line. I'll soon stop making revisions and these notes will become part of OCW. In the meantime, please let me know about any mistakes or unclear parts of the notes that you find.

The review session is tomorrow (Wed) night from 5-7pm in our usual room: 6-120.

Our final is in Walker at 9am on Friday, so if you are awake now it is time to start shifting to an earlier schedule! If you didn't make it to the last lecture I'll bring the remaining copies of the 8.06 Physical Review to the final exam so please be sure to pick up your copy then.

review session and office hours next week

Dear quanta,

The review session will be Wednesday, May 18 from 5-7pm. I'll announce the room later.

Wenjie will be away and won't have office hours.
I'll have office hours on Tuesday from 2-3pm.
Iain will have office hours on Thursday from 3:30-5:30pm.
Of course you can also use piazza and/or email us, including to set up other times to meet if none of these work for you.

review session poll, class evaluations, check pset grades

Dear 8.06,

We have three announcements *each* requesting some action from you.

1. I will hold a review session for the final exam. Some possible times are Sun afternoon or Mon, Tues, Wed 5-7pm. If you would like to attend and have a preference about the time then please respond to this poll.

Use the option "No" to mean "I can't make it", the option "(Yes)" to mean "I can make it but don't like that time" and "Yes" to mean that the time is fine for you.

Iain will hold office hours next week on Thursday, May 19, from 3:30-5:30. I will set my office hours after we figure out the time of the review session.

2. It is time for you to evaluate 8.06! The link is

and the deadline is early on Mon, May 16.
This is my third and final time lecturing 8.06, but your comments will still be valuable to both me and Iain in improving our teaching in general, and also valuable to future 8.06 instructors. One question that I specifically requested that they add to the form is about the choice of topics in 8.06: are there any you think we should add or remove (or expand or contract)? Since these evaluations are anonymous I generally don't respond to them, so if you want a reply to any comment you have about the class then you should email us (but please still also fill out the online form).

3. As Iain said, you should pick up your old psets from outside his office door. Also, your midterm grade and all pset grades should be online so please verify that the online grade matches what is written on paper. It is much better if you catch any mistakes now rather than after we submit grades. (We are still working on your term papers and hope to have those grades to you sometime this weekend.)

8.06 Section Problems Posted & Reminder to Pickup your Psets

I've posted my notes for the 3 final exam review problems covered in section today. Also, if you have not picked up any of your old Psets 1-9, please do so from the box that is sitting outside my office, 6-401.
