It has been a true pleasure having you in class. I want to offer a special congratulations to our graduating seniors. You should be very proud of your accomplishments, and I hope you enjoy the events leading up to and including commencement. For the rest, I hope you have a wonderful summer, and I if we cross paths again in the fall, I hope you will stop and say hi!

Warmly,

Details regarding tomorrow's final exam

Just a couple of quick faq's:

  • You will not be provided with an equation sheet for the final exam, so please ensure you are familiar with the equations that you were asked to have memorized for each of the previous exams.
  • You will be given a codon chart and a chart of amino acid structures if this information is required for an exam question.
  • You may use a standard scientific calculator on this exam.
  • There is a small typo in Question 1B of the extra ecology practice problems. I meant to write that the effect of R. cruzei on R. huckabus is 0.75, and the effect of R. huckabus on R. cruzei is 0.5. This sentence switches the numbers in the version currently posted, and all of the answers in the key reflect the problem as worked out using the numbers in this message.

Hello class,

I wanted to remind you that I have extra office hours scheduled for today, 4:30-6:30pm. Because the doors to Building 68 are locked in the evenings, I will not be holding them in my usual location, but rather in the Stata Cafe.

Fiona will be holding her regular office hours tonight, 7-8pm in 26-302.

Wrapping up this week

Dear Class,

Congratulations on being nearly finished with 7.014! Can you believe we only have one class period left?!

If you haven't already done so, please take a moment to fill out the online subject evaluations. We read each and every one of your comments, and incorporate your feedback into making the course better every year.

In order to help you prepare for the final exam, we have a number of opportunities available:

  • A practice problem set covering classes 30-36 will be posted by the end of the day tomorrow.
  • We will also be posting a bank of practice problems for the final exam by the end of the day tomorrow.
  • Thursday's recitation (5/18) is set aside for a review session. Come ready with plenty of questions!
  • Tim and Fiona will each hold their regularly scheduled Thursday and Monday evening office hours leading up to next week's final. I will hold my regular Friday afternoon office hours this week, as well as additional office hours from 4:30-6:30 on Monday, 5/22.
  • An optional review session will be held on Sunday, 5/21 , 7-9pm in E25-111 (our regular classroom).

For those of you who have emailed me with questions about Exam 3 or other class concerns, I apologize for the delayed response. I'm still feeling a bit unwell, but I assure you, I will get back to you as soon as possible!

All my best,

Logan
