Exam 3 in Johnson Ice Rink at 1:30 PM - Exam is 80 MINS ONLY

Hi all,

Exam 3 is from 1:30 - 2:50 PM on Monday, May 21st in the Johnson Ice Rink. The exam will run exactly like exams 1 and 2, in that you will ONLY have 80 minutes to complete it, and it will begin promptly at 1:30 PM.

Also, please complete the subject evaluation if you haven't already. It closes on Monday, May 21st at 9:00 AM. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us and helps us make 9.00 better in future years.

***Study title: Listening Experiment $15/hour (posted: 5/14/2018)***

Hello,

The McDermott lab would like participants for a sound perception study. The study involves performing a simple task while listening to natural sounds through headphones. The experiment will last approximately 1 hour and pays $15/hour. There is also the possibility of a future 2 hour experiment. We are looking for participants under the age of 35. The study will take place at 43 Vassar Street, on the MIT campus in Cambridge.

I will be running experiment Tuesday-Friday (May 15th to 18th), between the hours of 10am and 8pm. Please note, the payment office is open from 9:30am - 3:45pm.

Hello,

We’re currently conducting a 3 hour study which involves a 1 hour training and 2 hour magnetoencephalography (MEG) task, while listening to different sounds.

We’re looking for a few participants to be involved, and you’ll be compensated for your time with $30 per hour.

We’d like to run as soon as possible (this weekend, or early next week).

For anyone interested in neuroscience, this is a great way to become familiar with MEG, which is a neuroimaging technique which maps brain activity from magnetic fields. It’s completely non-invasive and comfortable. The experiment will take place on the MIT campus at 43 Vassar Street (Building 46).

The Young Lab, directed by Professor Liane Young, is looking for participants for an fMRI experiment on social decision-making. The study takes place at MIT and involves reading scenarios and making decisions in social context. We are specifically looking for MALE participants who can bring a same-sex close friend to the lab with you. The participant will receive $60 total for completing a 2-hour fMRI session and 1 hour of online surveys. The friend will receive $30 for completing a 2-hour behavioral task and 1 hour of online surveys.

To participate, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. You are a native English speaker
2. You are right-handed
3. You are between 18 and 35 years old
4. You have normal or contact-corrected vision
5. You have no metal in your body
6. You are not claustrophobic and able to comfortably lie still on your back for 2 hours
7. You have no history of emotional or psychiatric disorders (e.g., clinical depression, anxiety)

Your friend can disregard criteria 2-6.

The study will require 1 testing session lasting up to 1 hour at the McGovern Institute at MIT. In all, you will receive $15 for your participation.

Hello,

The Kanwisher lab is looking for more participants (age 18-40) for an MEG experiment.

In the experiment, you will be asked to view images of cars and perform simple tasks with them in the MEG. In order to participate, you'll need to have normal color vision and take a short online survey to record the color appearance of a few images. Provided your answers meet our criteria, we can schedule a time according to your availability.

The experiment consists of 1 session, lasting about 2 hours. You will get $30/hour ($60 in total) for your participation.

Extra Credit Opportunities

As stated in the syllabus there are 2 ways to earn extra credit. You may ONLY complete ONE of the options and doing so will earn you 5 points onto your total exam grade (not % points, but points). The options are:
1. Participate in 3 hours of BCS experiments. Upon doing so please give proof of your participation to your TA. This can be in the form of a confirmation email from the experimenter, a copy of your consent form, or time, date, and brief summary of the experiment.
