HW5 Solution Corrected, Summer Intern Position Available at IBM

Wish you had a nice spring break!

A typo is found in HW5 solution for problem 5.4, the second term for the final average power should have an additional "9" in the denominator. It is now corrected and sorry for the inconvenience.

A summer internship position is available at IBM Research, detailed job description is posted below:

IBM Research is designing DC-DC power converters with industry leading power density and efficiency. We seek a highly qualified candidate to work with our power design specialists to design, model and test DC-DC power converters and gate driver chips for high performance computing systems. The successful candidate should have chip or circuit board design experience with switch mode power converters, as well as lab testing skills. Candidates currently enrolled in graduate programs are encouraged to apply.
Preferred experience/skills:
- Analog IC design, custom layout, and verification.
- Power converter IC/circuit board design.
- Switch mode power converter IC/circuit board design.
- Basic knowledge of lab equipment: function generator, oscilloscope, multi-meters, etc.
- GaN driver IC design.

Optional Review Session Today, No Class on Friday

Reminder that an optional review session will be held today, starting from 7:30pm in room 32-155.
Quiz 1 will be held Thursday, starting from 7:30 pm in 35-225. (Those with conflict exam requests should have received notifications already.)
There will be no class on Friday.
HW3 and HW4 are graded and will be ready for pick up in class tomorrow.
Solution for HW5 is already online in Stellar.

Quiz 1, Thu. 7:30pm in 35-225, Optional review Tue. 7:30pm in 32-155

Quiz 1 will be held next Thursday, Mar 21st starting from 7:30pm in 35-225. The covered content is up to isolated DC-DC converters. Calculators are allowed but no cheat-sheet.

An optional quiz review session will be held next Tuesday, Mar 19th starting from 7:30pm in 32-155.

No homework is released this week. HW2 is graded and please pick up in class.

Talk on Electric Vehicles by Prof. Kassakian: Friday 2-3pm in Rm. 4-231

Dear all,

On Friday March 15th from 2-3 pm, Prof. John Kassakian will give a talk titled “Electric Vehicles: Challenges, Technology and Promise”.  The talk will be held in Rm. 4-231 and refreshments will be served.  Please feel free to pass information about this to others who might be interested.  I hope to see you there!
