Unified Lecture Change -- 11/2/12

Due to the Institute being closed and classes cancelled on Monday, 10/29/12, there has been a slight revision in the immediate Unified schedule.  The S/L8 lecture scheduled for Friday, 11/2/12, at 10:00 is now a T lecture to account for the T lecture lost due to the Institute closing.

There may be some minor later changes in schedule to work other issues associated with the closure.

EHS Training - please take note (and action if required) -- 9/26/12

Dear Unified Students:

As I mentioned today in the S/L recitation session, we need to make sure that all Unified students have taken the online Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) training and are on record for completing the class online.

This is a federal and MIT requirement to make sure we are in compliance and that you are aware of the most essential lab safety procedures. This training covers hazards related to lab work such as chemical spills, machinery, electrical circuits etc... and precautions you must take while working in our labs.

Please go to the following website and follow the instructions for Students:

https://ehs.mit.edu/site/book/export/html/221

You want to go to the training page and search for class 107c. This should not take very long to go through. Make sure you log in with your MIT web certificates so that the training is logged properly. Once you have completed the training it is good for 2 years.

Those of you who took this training as part of 16.00 in the spring do not need to take it again. You are covered until Spring 2014.

Besides this training we will spell out specific additional lab safety procedures and lab etiquette steps for each lab as we did during lecture S/L 3 for Lab 1.

Finally, please note that you should never work alone in the lab and always make sure that another student or faculty / staff are present.

Please let me, the TAs or Dick Perdichizzi (dickp@mit.edu) know if you have any questions.

You need to have completed the EHS training BEFORE starting lab work.

Best Wishes

Oli

Revised Unified Schedule -- 9/24/12

The Unified Schedule has been revised as of 9/24/12 and this revision is now posted.  It involves two basic switches:
1.  The T lecture on F10/19 has been moved to W10/17, with the F lecture on W10/17 moved to F10/19  -- lecture numbers have been updated accordingly.
2.  The recitation on T10/23 is now T, and the recitation on R10/25 is now F.
