Information:
Format
The class runs from 2-4 PM MWF, with some exceptions noted on the
calendar.
The first 1.5 hours of class will be a lecture, while the last
15-30 minutes will consist of a student-led discussion of the
research article.
Every student will be required to present a research article (of
the instructor's choice) to the class.
Paper summaries: If you are not presenting the research article
that day, every student will submit a 2-3 page summary of the
paper. This summary is due before the class begins that day.
Email your summary to TA Meg *before* the start of class.
Grading
45% -- Midterm
45% -- Final
10% -- Participation (Including paper presentation summaries)
Format for paper presentations/summaries:
1. Background/Intro:
What hypotheses are being tested? What is already known?
2. Methods:
Brief methodology. How were the hypotheses tested?
3. Results:
What did they find?
4. Discussion:
What is the authors interpretation? What would you do to follow
up?
Summaries should be 2-3 pages (12 pt font, single-spaced).
Presentations should be 10 minutes with 10 slides, max.
