Several 7.61 students in 2014 and 2017) put together study guides from themselves and fellow students and agreed that we can share them with you. We are happy to do so. You can find them on the Materials and Assignments page under General. Also, we encourage anyone so moved to also share any study tools you generate with the instructors so that we can share them with the class. Please let us know if these are helpful.

7.61 Oral Exam Schedule Posted

Hi All,
I just posted the schedule for the oral exams. Please mark your calendars and note from the posted course information:
"You will have 30 minutes to read the abstracts and select your two and then 20 minutes to discuss them with the instructors."
This means you NEED TO ARRIVE 30 minutes BEFORE your scheduled time to receive the exam.

7.61 Discussion next Monday – November 19th

There is increasing recognition of the involvement of multiple low affinity interactions in concentrating cellular components into functional aggregates/condensates/ coacervates. Rachel and Victoria will be discussing one paper ( Imaging dynamic and selective low-complexity domain interactions in transcription) illustrating this and applying sophisticated imaging methods, some of which we have already discussed to some degree, others new to the course. To enhance this discussion, you should also read the accompanying review on visualizing transcription factor dynamics. Also posted on the web site is a second review that discusses the broader implications of these sorts of low-affinity interactions in the organization of diverse non-membrane-bound organelles such as nucleoli, stress granules, P granules etc.

Please be sure to read the two papers assigned for Lecture 7 (Davey and Lemmon/Sclessinger) BEFORE the lecture.

The two papers for discussion on Oct 15 are also posted – Yami and Chan will be leading that discussion.
