6.002 Course Evaluation

The HKN underground guide evaluation form for 6.002 is now open, and will be so until 11:59 on May 20.  Please fill it out and provide the course staff with some feedback on what you liked this term, didn't like, &c., so that we can improve the class in the future.

Thanks.

The evaluation form can be found at: https://sixweb.mit.edu/student/evaluate/6.002-s2007

Lab 3 due date

Since we moved the final checkoff day to Wednesday, 05/02 (by 5 p.m.), and considering the fact that you will be working on Lab 4 through next week, the staff has decided that you may submit your lab notebook for grading of both Lab 3 and 4 after you are checked off for Lab 4 (Friday, 05/11).  It is therefore not necessary to turn in your lab notebook in this week after you finish Lab 3.

We would also like to remind you of the course policy regarding completion of the labs in 6.002, as stated in the course information handout:

"Failure to complete the labs in this subject will result in an overall grade that is one letter grade lower (not I)."

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact a member of the staff.

Quiz 2 Info.

In light of the fact that drop date is on Thursday, and that you will not receive your numerical grades for Quiz 2 by 5pm that afternoon, we are establishing the following policy so that you may have a sufficient amount of information to decide whether to remain enrolled in 6.002 or drop the class:

If you are considering dropping 6.002, and would like to receive a coarse assessment of your performance on your quiz, please email me (crlaugh@mit.edu) by 6pm on Wednesday.  Since we will not have finished all of the grades, or have the quiz statistics, by 5pm on Thursday, we will send you a coarse assessment of your performance on the quiz by 3pm on Thursday.  This coarse assessment will not include a specific numerical grade, but rather is intended to give you a rough sense of how you did on the quiz, and whether your performance will effectively limit your ability to do well in the course.

If you have any other questions, please contact me or any other member of the staff.

Lab and Quiz Information.

Lab Info:

1. The prelab indicates that the staff will provide two Matlab scripts which are helpful; those scripts are located under the Lab 3 section of the "Labs" tab.

2. Prelab exercise 1 states that information obtained by doing Problem 9-3 from Homework 9 will be helpful; this is incorrect.  Problem 10-1 (which will be handed out tomorrow in lecture) will help you to complete this prelab exercise.

3. Due to the heavy use that the equipment in the 6.002 lab gets, some of the equipment has been broken over the course of the term.  While we make every effort to tag this equipment, it would be wise to check that your equipment is functioning correctly before working on your circuits, lest you be tricked into thinking that your circuit is malfunctioning when, in fact, it is the testing equipment which is malfunctioning.

4. Since Quiz 2 is next Wednesday evening, we are extending the deadline for checkoffs on Lab 3 until the Wednesday after the Quiz (05/02).

Quiz Info:

1. Quiz 2 will take place next Wednesday evening (04/25) from 7:30-9:30 p.m in 34-101.

2. There will be an optional quiz review; this will take place on Monday evening (04/23) from 7-9 p.m. in 6-120.

3. A quiz review packet will be distributed tomorrow in lecture and placed on the web shortly thereafter.

If you have any other questions or concerns regarding either the lab or the quiz, please contact me or any other member of the course staff.
