Final Exam Details
The final exam is on Tuesday, May 18, 1:30-4:30pm at the
Johnson Track.
The exam covers all the material you had pset questions about: everything in Chapters 1--7 of Rudin, in addition to the course-notes on stellar (and given in lectures).
The exam is CLOSED-BOOK (unlike the midterm exams). This means you may expect to find questions of the form "State the definition of..." or "State Theorem ...". Also, you may expect to be asked to produce proofs of some of the theorems from the class (though none that would be too difficult to derive from first principles knowing the tools we've developed this term).
Prof. Kemp will have office hours on Monday, May 17 from 2:00-4:00pm, in his office 2-175.
Prof. Etingof will have office hours on Monday evening -- time and place to be announced soon.
On Wednesday, May 19, both instructors will be available in their offices from 4:30-6:00pm. You can come look at your graded exam at that point. This will be your only chance to appeal the grading.

Exam 2 Results
Exam 2 has been graded, with grades posted on stellar.
The mean was 55, and the standard deviation was 21.
This was a tough exam, but the wide normal distribution shows that it was not unfair.
Students who got under 35 on the exam should seriously consider whether it is worth continuing in the class this semester (since the drop deadline is coming up this Thursday). In particular, students who got under 35 on Exam 2, and under 60 on Exam 1, are (in our estimation) very unlikely to pass the class at this time.
