There should be an instruction manual lieing around that describes most of the basics. Briefly: cd to root:digiview and "run digiview" Use the 3-way (ABC) video switch and the monitor's "Video Mode" slide switch to first get direct video displayed on the screen, so you can frame and focus the picture. (Put monitor in "comp" mode to view video, RGB mode for Amiga). In addition to focusing the lens, you can also adjust the set screw on the top of the camera. Switch back, and digitize a color to make sure everything is alright (there are some electronic camera "controls" in the camera menu that adjust things like aspect ratio that you'll want to play with). At this point I should mention that arranging even lighting, without glare, etc. it a key part of getting good results. Digitize all the colors, rotating the color wheel apropriately. You've now got a 24 bit image stored in memory. Use "Display" to produce a first cut image. Play with the "display" menu controls to get things "right." Save out an IFF file in "playground:images" (?). Now would be a good time to turn off the camera and put the lens cap back on. Use "left-amiga-key n" to switch back to a shell window, and type "run vlt" to start up a terminal program. The phone may need to be manually adjusted to get the right serial mode (shift data puts you in the right mode). When you have 19.2Kbaud (ideally), X-25 mode, and the right variety of stop bits, use the menu to dial the correct internal number to get a PAD (700-7000 ?). Connect to an athena dialup machine, and use your favorite file transfer protocol to upload the IFF file (Kermit may be the only one that works). Then use the appropriate format changing programs to convert the IFF file into something you can use. Hope this is accurate and helps. Feel free to post an amended version near the amiga. - Harold
