Hi there. This is the project directory for the URL forwarding service called Monkey. (Which is short for Look, A Monkey!) There are 4 current projects outstanding: The neatest one: (Codename: Cheerleader) Write using a scripting language and DB backend a forwarder service that runs off stuff.mit.edu and has all the neato web-GUI crap. Being worked on by: noone Less cool but still neat (Codename: Soandso) See if there are ways to make kenta's ln-s interface nicer. Being worked on by: noone The hack-athena one: (Codename: Theuglyone) Write a perl/java/python script that writes and manages a bunch of little files to do forwarding from your athena web directory. Being worked on by: foley Slightly more complex: (Codename: Whatsherface) Get sipb to make a public dropbox area, and have everyone dump their forwarding files there. Being worked on by: noone Things useful to know to work on the various project: SubVersion, Perl or Python, HTML/Javascript, MySQL, PHP, HomeStarRunner If you are interested on hearing more about this project, add yourself to look-a-monkey@mit.edu athena% blanche -a $user look-a-monkey There is also a zephyr class athena% zctl add monkey \* \* Before you can work on the project, you'll need to be added to the right AFS group too, so you'll need to send me mail. The svn repository is in /afs/sipb.mit.edu/project/monkey/SVNRepository/ To checkout a given project, you'll want to run: athena% cd ; add svn athena% svn co file:///afs/sipb.mit.edu/project/monkey/SVNRepository//trunk There are checked out copies in Projects for perusal - you should only edit your own copy though. Anything else violates the concept of svn. When you do commits to your own project, please occasionally run "svn update" in the Projects directory. If you start working on a project, tell me or edit the README in the svn root's directory. -- Joe Foley Head URL-flinger "Ewwww. I got some HTML on me. Damn monkeys!"
