Introducing VMware ESX Server

VMware ESX Server is virtual machine software for consolidating and partitioning servers in high-performance environments. It simplifies server infrastructure by partitioning and isolating server resources, enabling you to manage these resources remotely and to automate and standardize them.

VMware ESX Server lets you transform physical computers into a pool of logical computing resources. You can partition physical servers into secure virtual machine servers. You isolate your operating systems and applications in these multiple virtual machine servers that reside on a single piece of hardware. You can then distribute these resources to any operating system or application as needed, when needed, giving you mainframe-class control of your server infrastructure.
