Finding the VMware Product Build Number

VMware products use unique build numbers for each release. To identify the build number of the remote console, choose the About VMware Software option from the Help menu. Look at the upper right corner of the VMware Management Interface to identify its build number.

VMware Tools have a separate build number. To identify the build number of the VMware Tools release:

When running VMware Tools in a Windows virtual machine, double-click the VMware Tools icon (generally in the system tray at the end of the taskbar). Click the About tab.
When running VMware Tools in a Linux or FreeBSD virtual machine, choose the About option from the VMware Tools Help menu (Help > About).
