Changing the Connection for a Parallel Port Device from a Virtual Machine
You can change the connection for a virtual parallel port. For example, you
can associate a different physical parallel port with the virtual parallel
port, or choose to use an output file instead of a physical port connection.
To change the connection for a virtual parallel port:
- Select File > Open and open the virtual machine configuration file
(.cfg) you want to modify.
- Select Settings > Configuration Editor from
the console.
- From the list of devices,
select the virtual parallel port.
- On the far right, make a different selection under Type:
- Device.
Select this option if you want the guest operating system in the virtual machine
to access the physical parallel port on the host machine. Then
enter the path to the
physical parallel port that should correspond to the virtual parallel port.
- File.
Select this option if you want the virtual parallel port to connect to an output
file stored on the host file system. Then click
Choose to locate the output file to which this virtual
parallel port should be connected.
- Click OK.
