Configuring the Floppy Drive

A floppy drive can be used only by the host operating system or by one guest operating system at a time. Only one floppy drive can be configured using the Configuration Wizard. If necessary, you can use the Configuration Editor to add floppy drives later.

Note: Some operating systems may require the use of a floppy drive for installation.

The Configuration Wizard can configure a floppy drive for the virtual machine even if the floppy drive is physically detached from the computer. This is useful since many laptop computers have removable floppy disk drives. If the floppy drive is likely to be physically detached from the computer then deselect the Start with the floppy connected option. This prevents the virtual machine from trying to access the floppy device when it powers on.

You can enable and disable access to a floppy drive while a virtual machine is running by using the Devices menu.
