\leftindent{Symbols are special characters like greek and math symbols that 
are available for inclusion in text through the \bold{Symbol} and 
\bold{Symbola} styles.  For example: \symbol{fred}.

\leftindent{In order to use symbols, you must add the \bold{symbol} template. 
Do this by selecting \bold{Add Template} from the \bold{File} menu card. When 
prompted for the template name, type \bold{symbol}.

character is missing, it is because it has no printer symbol.


\subsection{Using the table:}


Below each symbol is its corresponding keyboard character.  For example:  'a' 
corresponds to '\symbol{a}'.  Either type the keys and surround your text with 
the appropriate style, (Symbol or Symbola), or use cut and paste to copy 
individual symbols.  (Each symbol is surrounded by the appropriate style and 
some whitespace. Try to select just the symbol.)


The backquote character in the symbol font (square root bar) is tricky to 
select.  Drag on what looks like the whitespace at the begining of the line 
(before the bar) and the right thing will be selected.

}\leftindent{There are symbols, not listed here, which, if used, will show up 
on the screen, but will NOT print.


If the Add Template operation is performed on an EMPTY buffer, the above Quick 
Reference section is inserted into the buffer.  This action is analagous to 
the behavior of the help template which will give the user a skeletal help 
file.  


Inserting the text is done as a convenience to users wanting to cut characters 
out of the table, but it might be confusing.
