Upgrading on a Linux Host
Upgrading on a Linux Host
To upgrade from version 1 or 2 to version 3, you must have the full VMware GSX Server 3 product.
Upgrading Using the tar Installer
If you used the tar installer to install your current version of GSX Server, and you plan to use the tar installer for the new version, the only special step you need to take is to make sure the directory to which you plan to untar the tar archive does not contain any files from a previous GSX Server tar installation. You do not need to uninstall the older version. Just follow the installation instructions under
Installing VMware GSX Server on a Linux Host.
Upgrading Using the RPM Installer
If you used the RPM installer to install your current version of GSX Server, you need to uninstall the software before you upgrade to the new version. See
Uninstalling GSX Server on a Linux Host.
