Proposal for the merging of Training and documentation Staff: Having one manager for the merged group will free up a staff position. With Gary Dryfoos holding down the training end of the spectrum and Bill Bryant the technical documentation end, the two new staff members could be oriented more towards user documentation and tutorials. Using all four as a team, each could come up to speed on a different piece of software and be given the overall responsibility for delivering the set of training, tutorial and documentation for that software while calling on the others to provide expertise in their areas of experience. Opportunities: With the new system stability, we could start moving towards on-line delivery of training and documentation in a number of ways: o On-line tutorials o User friendly man pages o Screen-oriented documentation o Muse-based training We could also more effectively address faculty and developer training with a larger staff to call upon. The tasks that Kathy Lieben was handling will need to be redistributed among the staff according to skills and load.
