Lab Results Settings
The
Lab Results Settings
screen allows you to set the default behavior for the Lab Results module. When you select
Lab Results
from the
Edit Settings
menu on the Institution Desktop, the
Lab Results Settings
screen appears.
The
Lab Results
screen allows you to configure the following parameters:
-
Requires Attention Threshold for Unviewed Components
: This setting determines what level of lab result triggers the Requires Attention behavior. When viewing the Patient List and sorting by Lab Results (in the third column), patients requiring attention appear in Boldface. These are patients that have new data from any of the modules. If you click on a patient that is in Boldface and thus requiring attention, and the tab for the Lab Results icon appears shaded, that indicates that the selected patient has lab results that require attention. The shaded icons indicate those modules that have new data for the patient.
You can set this parameter in one of three ways: choose
Critical
to designate that a patient requires attention if there are lab results with a critical result; choose
Abnormal, Critical
for it to apply to both types of lab results; or choose
Normal, Abnormal, Critical
to trigger Requires Attention behavior for all lab results.
-
Max Amount of Patient Lab Data Stored on Handheld
: This setting is the maximum number of days worth of data, between 30 and 180, per patient to be stored on the handheld device. Note that the user can choose, on the handheld device, to store less lab data if that is preferable.
-
Default # of days lab to download
: This setting determines how many days, between 30 and 180, of lab data per patient to download to the handheld device during a sync.
-
Max Instances of Each Component Stored on Handheld
: This setting limits how many different lab results of the same test type, such as CBC, Blood Gases, etc., can be stored on the handheld for each patient. Choose between 5 and 50 instances of each lab result type.
-
Panel View Configurable Column
: This setting determines whether or not comments from the backend, such as comments directly from the lab that processed the test, will appear when you are viewing a lab result panel. Choose
Comments
to append the comment to the column displaying the normal range. Choose
Normal Range
to only display the range and no comments.
-
Critical Alert Switch
: This setting determines whether or not alerts will appear on the handheld device for critical or abnormal lab results. Choose
None
to prevent alerts from appearing. Choose
Critical
to have alerts appear only for lab results with a critical result; or choose
Abnormal, Critical
to have alerts appear for lab results that are either abnormal or critical.
-
