View Logs
The
View Log
s toolbar button lets you look at the detailed information that PatientKeeper logs for each usage session. There are three customizable logs (
Sessions
,
Events
,
Errors
) that can be viewed for a specified date range. You choose what kind of log report to generate using the main
Log Viewer
screen.
Sessions Log
Each session log contains the following information:

All
: Click the
[All]
link to select all logs for downloading. If you only want to download selected logs, then check the box next to those specific logs. This is useful if a particular user appears to be having problems and you wish to download the logs for offline review.

Session Id
: Displays the unique identification number assigned to each session. Click on the
Session Id
header link to sort the column in ascending or descending numeric order. Click on the specific
Session Id
number to view the details of all operations performed during that session.

User Name
: Displays the user name for each session. Click on the
User Name
header link to sort the column in ascending or descending alphabetical order. This lets you easily view all sessions for a particular user.

Login Time
: Displays the time that the user logged into the system. Click on the
Login Time
link to sort the column in ascending or descending order.

End Time
: Displays the time that the user logged out of the system. Click on the
End Time
link to sort the column in ascending or descending order.

Update Type
: Displays the type of sync that occurred. Possible values include:
Full
(a complete synchronization),
Diff
(a synchronization of changed items only),
App Update
(a synchronization to update any of the modules), or
N/A
(for web logs).

Duration
: Displays the length of the session in seconds.
-
# of Charges
: Displays the number of charges entered by the user during the session.

Type
: Displays the type of session for each log: either
HH
for a handheld user or
WEB
for a user accessing the system through the web interface.

Failure
: Displays whether or not there were operations that failed during the sync or web session. If
Failure
status is
OK
, then no failures occurred. If a failure did occur, a description of the failure appears.

Errors
: Displays whether or not there were errors that occurred during the sync or occurred previously on the handheld device since the last successful sync. If the
Errors
are
NONE
, then no errors occurred. If an error did occur, an error code and description appears.
Events Log
Events logs are generated for a specific department, as specified on the
Log Viewer
main screen.
Each event log contains the following information:

Event Id
: Displays the unique identification number assigned to each event.

Log Id
: Displays the corresponding
Session Id
number for this specific event.

Event Time
: Displays the time that the event occurred.

Type
: Displays an identifier indicating the type of event that occurred. There are many types, but some of the most common include:
_Mem
(memory level),
_Bat
(battery level),
+pat
(patient added),
-pat
(patient removed),
cded
(code edit validation check),
_Ser
(serial number),
_Sys
(system type).

Label
: Displays an expanded description of the event
Type
.

Message
: Displays the value for the event. For example, if a patient is removed, this field contains the patient name. Similarly, if a code edit validation fails, this field contains a description of why the validation failed.
Errors Log
Error logs are generated for a time range and can be filtered by the type of errors you wish to review. The
Log Viewer
screen changes when you select
Errors
as the
Log type
.
Each error log contains the following information:

Session
: Displays a link to the corresponding
Session Id
when the error occurred.

Time
: Displays the time that the error occurred.
-
Name
: Displays the kind of error, such as a
Warning
,
Error
,
Update Type
, and so on.

Value
: Displays an summary description of the problem. In the case of an
Error
, you can click on an error number included within the summary to review a detailed description of the error, including the stack and semantic stack outputs.

Username
: Displays the name of the user who encountered the error.
