Patient List Settings
The
Patient List Settings
screen allows administrators to define view filters for department users' long lists, as well as the short list filters and data populators, long list data filters, and rounding order lists for use within profiles that will be available to all current users in the department. The user can always choose to hide these stock utilities if they decide that they aren't useful to them by using the
Patient List
settings under the
Prefs
tab.
On your device, the Patient List main screen is a view of your short list. This is the list of patients with whom you have a relationship that also meet the criteria of your short list data filter if you have one. This short list is also the list of patients for whom you have clinical data updated on your handheld whenever you sync your device. You can add patients to your short list by using the
Add Patient
feature and selecting them from the long list. On your next sync, you will receive any clinical data available for the newly added patients.
See also Expanded Discussion of Patient List Filtering for more information on how to use filters to control which patients are added to your short and long lists.
When you select
Patient List
from the
Edit Settings
menu, the
Patient List Settings
screen appears.
The

Stock Short List Data Filters
: This setting displays the stock Short List Data Filters that are available to a profile for the selected department. A profile can contain one or more Short List Data Filters. Short List Data Filters are used by the Mobilizer server to filter patients from a user's Patient List (or short list) before they are ever sent to the handheld device. This lets you create a profile that controls how much clinical data is sent to the handheld during a sync, and can significantly affect the amount of time for a sync for department users. Each Short List Data Filter is applied independently. If a patient has any accounts that meet the criteria of any one of the filters, they will be left on the short list. If a patient is filtered off the short list, they are added to the long list. Click the Edit link to add a new stock Short List Data Filter, or to modify an existing one.

Stock Short List Data Populators
: This setting displays any stock Short List Data Populators that are available to a profile for the selected department's users. Short List Data Populators are used by the Mobilizer server to determine which patients will appear on the user's Patient List (or short list) when they sync their handheld device. When the user syncs, patients meeting the criteria defined in any of the Short List Data Populators specified for the current profile will be added to the user's Patient List (if they aren't already there). Populators should be created with care, as they directly effect the number of patients that appear on a user's Patient List. There is a safeguard at the Institution level, where an administrator can specify the
Maximum Number of Patients on the Short List when Populating
in the Patient List settings for the Institution. If the Short List Data Populators cause the profile to exceed the maximum allowable patients, the populator will not be used, and the handheld user will receive an alert telling them the populator was not used. Click the

Stock Long List Data Filters
: This setting displays the stock Long List Data Filters that are available to a profile for the selected department's users. The Mobilizer server uses the Long List Data Filters to filter patients from the long list (of all active patients) before they are ever sent to the user's handheld device. Long List Data Filters are inclusive, therefore patient accounts that meet any of the specified criteria will match the filter. A profile may contain zero or exactly one long list filter. The resulting long list will contain all patients meeting the Long List Data Filter criteria as well as any patients filtered off of the short list by a Short List Data Filter. If the profile does not contain a long list filter, the long list will be obtained using organization security for the user, which could result in an exceedingly long list and should be used with caution. Stock Profiles
: This setting displays the stock Profiles that are available for use by the users in the selected department. Profiles allow you to create groups of filters and populators to control the long and short patient lists for users in the department. Profiles give the users a quick means to switch between different sets of patients. This is particularly useful if the user splits their time between different facilities within an institution. On those days where they are in a particular facility, they only want to see data for patients within that facility. You can define a stock Profile for each facility, letting your department users simply select the appropriate profile and sync their handheld device, so that only those patients within that facility appear on their handheld. Click the
