Lab Results Settings

The Lab Results Settings screen lets a department administrator create stock snapshots and phrases that will be automatically available to current users within the department. Snapshots are used to customize sets of lab components that are viewed on the handheld. Phrases are shortcuts for adding commonly used phrases to lab annotations on the handheld. If these snapshots and phrases aren't useful, the user can hide them so that they don't appear on the handheld device by using the Lab Results Settings under the Prefs tab. When you select Lab Results from the Edit Settings menu, the Lab Results Settings screen appears.

The Lab Results Settings screen allows you to view and configure the following parameters:

• Stock Snapshots : This setting displays those stock snapshots that will be available to all current users within the department when using the Snapshots button on their handheld device. A snapshot is a customized grouping of lab components from arbitrary panels in the lab system. For example, your department's users may prefer to see Cholesterol, Sodium, and Triglyceride results grouped together. These could be added as components of a snapshot, so that the information could be viewed collectively as a single result. If there are stock snapshots that are not useful, the user can choose to hide them, using the Lab Settings under the Prefs tab, so that they aren't available on the handheld device. Click the Edit link to add a new stock snapshot or to modify an existing snapshot.
• To create a stock snapshot, click the New Snapshot button on the toolbar. Enter a Snapshot Title in the Quick Details box and then check those lab components you wish to include in the snapshot.
  Click the Search button in the Quick Details box and enter search text to more easily locate components. Or, use the Category and Panel pull-down lists at the top of the screen to sort the component list Once you have selected all of the components for the snapshot, click the Save button to create the snapshot. Once the stock snapshot is created, you can also use the Edit button to add or remove components from the snapshot and the Delete button to remove the snapshot.
• To modify an existing stock snapshot, select the snapshot by clicking on it in the Manage Snapshots form and then click the Edit or Delete button in the Quick Details box. Use the Edit button to add or remove components from the snapshot and the Delete button to remove the snapshot.
• Stock Phrases : This setting displays those stock phrases that will be available to current users within the department when annotating lab results on their handheld device. Stock phrases are annotations that the user can add to lab results with a single tap, instead of entering all of the text. If there are stock phrases that are not useful, the user can choose to hide them, using the Lab Settings under the Prefs tab, so that they aren't available on their handheld device. Click the Edit link to add new stock phrases and to modify or delete existing stock phrases.
• To create a stock phrase that will be available to all current users in the department, click the New Phrase button on the toolbar. In the Create Stock Phrase box that appears, enter up to 128 characters of text as the phrase, and then click the Save button to create it. Once the stock phrase is created, you can also use the Edit button to change its text, and use the Delete button to remove it.
• To modify existing stock phrases, select a phrase from the Stock Phrases form and then click the Edit or Delete button. Use the Edit button to change its text, and use the Delete button to remove it.
