Saving a Charge as a Draft

Once the charge is complete, health care providers can choose to save the charge as a Draft. This prevents the charge from being submitted to the Holding Bin and gives you a chance to edit the charge again before it is finalized. While you can also edit the charge once it has been submitted to the Holding Bin, it is unclear how long you will be able to do so because once the administrator submits it to the Outbox, you will no longer be able to edit it. It is better to save a charge as a Draft if you know that it is incomplete. Note that administrators cannot save charges as Drafts.

To save the charge as a Draft, do as follows:

  1. On the Charge Details screen, uncheck the Submit Charge? box.
  2. Click the Save button.

Viewing and Completing a Draft Charge

You can access your Draft charges from the Charge Capture Desktop. By default, all of your charges will appear, both those saved as Drafts and those submitted to the Holding Bin.You can filter the Charge Capture Desktop to display only those Draft charges by selecting Draft from the View Charges pull-down list.

Once you have found the Draft you wish to complete, click the Edit button in its row to return to the Charge Details screen. Complete the information, make sure the Submit Charge? box is checked, and click Save to send the charge to the Holding Bin.

Viewing Your Submitted Charges

Health care providers can filter the Charge Capture Desktop to display only those charges that have been submitted to the Holding Bin. To do this, select Submitted from the View Charges pull-down list. Note that this option is not available to administrators.
