Before you create something on a volume make sure there is enough space!

1) When I created the volume, there *was* enough space.

2) Before I came into work today, I put on my list of things to do
today, "Check to make sure that the AFS charon backup volume isn't
filling up, and clean it up if necessary." Obviously, I did this a
day too late :-). I didn't really that much data was being written to
the volume.

3) I've disabled the nightly charon backups for now, until I have time
to figure out a better way to do them (i.e., one that will robustly
refrain from filling up an AFS partition :-).
