Subject: E.T.O #11 from Apple Computer

DCNS-Dev has received the latest E.T.O.( Essentials * Tools * Objects )
CD from Apple. E.T.O. provides Macintosh software developers with the
latest versions of most of Apple's key development tools and related
essential information. E.T.O. also includes important prerelease
versions of many tools.

******************************************************************
E.T.O. subscription is a single user product. Like any single user
product, you may not make copies for anyone else. This includes all
the Tools and Objects found on the CD, e.g. MacTCP.

The only exception is MPW, where DCNS has a 20 copy license. Those
people with legal copies of MPW may update to the latest version 3.3.
DCNS-Dev will update existing keyserved versions of MPW.

E.T.O is available on IS-DCNS:Monterey ONLY on a request basis to
protect the single user license agreement. If you are interested in
items listed below, please contact either mlc or wade.

Two highlights I would like to mention.

1.  MacTCP version 2.0

    Earlier versions of MacTCP have a memory leak which occurs only
    during cname resolution. Generally, this would occur after the
    sixth attempt at resolving a cname alias from the same application.
    This has been fixed in the 2.0 version. I tested this out and it
    seems to work fine on MY machine (Quadra 700).

2.  MPW 3.3

    The release notes claim that "MPW 3.3 is highlighted by a new
    incremental linker that will shorten your link times dramatically".

Other interesting network release tools include:

*	OSI Connection (for both Ethernet and X.25)
*	Macintosh Communications Toolbox Tools
*	Transport Independent Interface Development Kit
*	TCP/IP Software and Development Kit
*	SNMP Development Kit
*	AppleTalk Software and Development Kit

Other interesting information to evaluate are:

  AppleScript Run-time Kit v. 1.0
  Macintosh Technical Notes
  Perl
  MacApp 3 Debugging Tips
  MPW C++ 3.3
  SourceBug 1.1
  ResEdit CODE Editor 2.13
  Apple Shared Library Manager 1.1a5
