Subject: Consortium Trial Review of VEX to begin
Date: Tue, 25 Sep 90 15:31:07 -0400
From: rws@expo.lcs.mit.edu (Bob Scheifler)

As discussed at the X Consortium Advisory meeting last week, Trial Review
of the VEX proposed standard will now begin. Trial Review will close on
November 1, 1990. At that time, Advisory representatives should let me
know whether Technical Review should begin. VEX is being sponsored by
Tektronix, and the Architect for the review is Todd Brunhoff.

Discussion will take place on the mailing list vex@expo.lcs.mit.edu.
To start things off, I have copied all entries from Consortium organizations
that were on the xvideo list, and placed them on the vex mailing list as
well. So if that is sufficient for your needs, no further work on your
part is required. If you wish to change or add entries, please send
requests to vex-request@expo.lcs.mit.edu.

As agreed at the Advisory meeting, a few non-Consortium VEX beta sites
will be permitted to participate in the review as well.

Please keep in mind that the "vex" mailing list is an internal list
of the X Consortium; the "xvideo" list will continue to be maintained
as a public mailing list. Please do NOT cross-post to both lists.
Please discuss the VEX documents, as they relate to Consortium review,
on the vex mailing list.

The VEX documents to be considered are:
	Protocol version 5.9
	Library version 1.11
	Devices and Controls version 1.4
PostScript versions of these documents, and troff source, exist on expo
in /docs/vex/, and can be obtained using the Consortium ftp account. I
will ask Todd Brunhoff to send the PostScript versions directly to the
advisory and vex mailing lists as well.
