                   Welcome to the Athena games locker!

The games locker is divided into the following volumes:

         Games Volumes and Quota                       Purpose
   ------------------------------------    -------------------------------
   Ultrix  contrib.games.decmips   40Mb    These volumes are mounted on
   Solaris contrib.games.sun4      30Mb    /afs/athena/contrib/games/arch/@sys
   IRIX	   contrib.games.sgi	   30Mb	   for each platform.  Each volume 
					   contains bin and lib directories.

           contrib.games.score      5Mb    Contains score and related files

           contrib.games.bld       15Mb    The build/test volume for games

           contrib.games.src       40Mb    Source code, compressed if it
                                           is no longer being worked on

	   contrib.games.lib	   30Mb    library/support files which
					   are not platform dependent

           contrib.games           14Mb    Top-level volume, encompassing
                                           all directories/files which are
                                           not covered by the above. This
                                           includes the linux binaries. 

This will be moving shortly to a smaller number of large volumes.

And uses the following directory structure:

    *bin:  contains all binaries and shell scripts for that platform
    *lib:  contains all platform-specific library/support information

  submit:  binaries/library files are copied here (it is world-writable);
           mail should be sent to "games-admin@mit.edu", so they will move
           the files to the correct directories

     lib:  library/support files which are not platform dependent
  scores:  high score and related files

     doc:  non-manual page documentation
     man:  manual page documentation for the games

   build:  all compilation and testing is done in this volume

     src:  sources should be kept here -- NO COMPILATION in the source tree!

Currently all the volumes in the games locker consist of a read-write volume
and a read-only volume, with the exception of contrib.games.src.  All changes
to the other volumes can only be made in the read-write volumes.  The
volumes should now update nightly -- if they do not, please send me e-mail.
