The db files associated with the counter and perday CGI scripts are
backed up to this directory once per day as part of the
nightly-log-stuff.pl cron job. This backup occurs while there are no
httpd processes running, and thus the db files aren't being written to
at the time of the backup. The resulting backup file, named db.tgz, is
copied to AFS as part of the backup-to-afs cron job. The ".dir" and
".pag" files themselves are not directly copied to AFS by the
backup-to-afs cron job.
