I forgot to add - I will probably make small changes as necessary to
make things consitant.

For instance, for shell scripts which are installed on multiple
platforms, I will create a symlink to a commonbin directory. This will
ensure that they are kept up to date in sync. (for instance, why are
there numerous copies of areacode???).

Question: Where should shell scripts be kept? Should the commonbin be
the source repository as well or should they be maintained in src? (I
prefer the later, but people may forget).
