This release (3.3beta) is a pre-release of an unofficial release
of NNstat. The last official release of NNstat was version number
3.2. This release (3.3beta) is NOT being made by ISI, but rather
by a few people who have been exchanging bugfixes and improvements.

Because this is a beta release, if you are not an experienced user
of NNstat, you should probably not bother trying to use it. We
would like to get bug reports (and fixes!) from people who know
what they are doing. We have no intention of spending a lot of
time helping novices learn the system, especially if it is buggy.
So don't ask.

We believe that this version should run on
DEC MIPS-based workstations running Ultrix V4.0 and later
DEC VAX-based workstations running Ultrix V4.0 and later
DEC Alpha running OSF/1 V1.3 and later
	Sun3/Sun4 running SunOS 4.X
	SunOS 3.X
	SGI Irix 4.0.5
and perhaps some other systems. But it has not been widely tested.
The tested configurations, so far, are:
	sun4m sunos 4.1.3
	sun3 (6/50?) sunos 4.1.1
	SGI Indigo R3000/R4000 IRIX 4.0.5F
	SGI Indigo2 IRIX 4.0.5H
        DECstation 5000/200 Ultrix 4.2a
	DECstation 3000/400 OSF/1 V1.3
**However, we know that on IRIX 4x, using "parm/parm.decwrl" with
**rspy causes a core dump. If someone can debug this, we would
**appreciate receiving a patch.

Amos has done a first cut at support for Solaris 2.2 (SunOS 5.x),
using the DLPI interface. It doesn't work yet; if anyone who
knows Solaris 2.2 well could attack this, we'd appreciate it.
The relevant files are "Makefile.sos5", "etherdlpi.c", and "dlcommon.c".
If you are interested, please contact Amos, not Jeff, for more
details.

To find out what changes have been made since release 3.2, see
the file "CHANGES.R3.3".

If you report bugs (or praise), please send email to BOTH of us.
