of 40 horse and musketeers, brave gentlemen. They took in the town without contradiction, meddled with the keys of the
Tolbooth, took free quarters, and plundered all the arms they could get, buff coats, pikes, swords, pistols, yea and money
also. They took frae Alexander WINCHESTER, one of the bailies, 700 merks, whilk he had as one of the Collectors of the
taxations, and loan silver of Banff; and siclike took frae him 400 merks of his own gear . . . Gight keepit all the
