Hi, Emily,

When you approve a split, you have to remember to update the
Archive-names listed in nadir/index.  Also, we pretty much require
that multi-pat postings use A-n's that fit one of two patterns, either
part1, part2, ... or short names describing the contents (index,
resources, culture, ...).  That way, mirrors which prefer to combine
multi-part files know what to concatenate (we assume that topic-named
files pretty much stand on their own).

If you would, please write this maintainer back and ask him to switch
to 
calendars/faq/part1
etc., and update the index.
