Dear Emily,

_Welcome to alt.tasteless! (Monthly Posting)?_ is still very much an
active posting being posted once a month. Trouble is it does not seem
to propagate properly. A trouble with a lot of my postings from my
diku.dk account.

When posted I look for it on DejaNews, but during the last months it
hasn't showed up. I don't know why. It doesn't seem to leave the
site. Therefore I'm negotiatiing with some other newsgroup members to
take it over. Unfortunately they fear the colourful posting will get
them into trouble. So until a good replacement for me has been found
I'll still try to post it as case@diku.dk (St. Ool).

Matter of fact, I'll do it now, and see what happens. I don't think
I've tried posting it since july.

Anyway, thanks a lot for doing the *.answers job. Usenet is still
worth a lot. It just takes more caretakers to make it run smoothly.

Speaking of which, I'd like to ask you a couple of questions, if it's
all right.

When I'm not studying at the university, I'm writing an Internet
column in a danish computer mag. Next month will be on the various
conflicts on the net (scientology, smith barney, spam) etc.

So,

How long have you been on the net, and what have you been doing
there?

When did you start helping things out by working to add order to the
net?

I've noticed that the "-"#%!" spammers (or alt.syntax.tacticals) are
now so bold they make fake FAQs. The headers will be below. What do
you think about that?

If a more or less offensive FAQ like _Welcome to alt.tasteless_ can
exist in news.answers, why shouldn't fake on-man "FAQs" be allowed to
do it? And who should make the decision?

What do you think about FAQs serving as encyclopedias (namely the
dog, ufo and fat FAQs) instead of informational postings helping
people to get a better use of a certain group and pointing them
onward to more information (on the www, for instance)?

You don't have to answer, but I'd be grateful if you do.
I'd better get posting.

yours,

Steven
