  Jackie,

Following is a job description for Chris Peterson for the Visual
  Courseware Group.

We have three basic areas where we feel that Chris can help us,
based on our discussion with him last week. All of these activities
have to do with re-engineering the application development environment
  under X11:

	a. Understanding the requirements for the environment by
becoming involved with the faculty projects, which is
in keeping with our application-driven approach.
At least 3 projects in Architecture	will need help
answering questions on X, Xlib, the X Toolkit, etc.

	b. Constructing and modifying Toolkit widgets. Our system
sits on the Toolkit and we need the widgets to behave
properly. In some cases, we have special requirements
for communicating with the standard widgets, and in
other cases we will be designing new widgets according to
	    the requirements of our applications.

	c. Participating in the overall design of our system in terms
of UNIX resources and X11 architecture. This means
researching implementation issues and making recommendations.

We are planning to have a second version of our application construction
set ready for delivery by the April 1 code release date.
Beyond April, we expect to be getting more into building interactive
editors for text, graphics, video, and composite display packages.
