Congratulations on your acceptance and decision to attend MIT. This is one decision you will not regret. MIT and the Boston area provide the ideal environment for learning, not only about academics, but also about friendship and about yourself.

Soon you will be asked to make a very important decision: where to live for the next four years of your life. Rush Week is a great time to have lots of fun and meet new people, but with over forty living groups and over a thousand freshmen, it's a hectic time for everybody. It's important to be prepared. This book will hopefully give you a few hints about how Rush works, as well as introduce you to some issues you may want to consider when choosing a living group.

The following pages will also give you an idea of what being a member of Phi Kappa Theta is like: what we strive for, how we spend our time, and how we interact with each other and the community. Obviously, mere pictures and words are not sufficient to capture our everyday life. You have to come to our house and talk to the brothers to get a real sense of what Phi Kappa Theta is all about. If you see something that interests you, give us a call, come to a summer rush party, and visit us during Rush.

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your summer, and we'll see you soon.

Andrew Chen '01 Rolling Hills Estates, CA Comp. Sci./Mgmt. President

Professor Chen, with a PhD in theoretical macking, has extended his field of research over the last year to include dating. In fact, he has made great strides in his research so far, quickly locating a stable situation for the relationship. This has included a balance in his pseudo-management workload, his house responsibilities, and the amount of time he can spend on the courts trying to mimic his idol, Kobe Bryant. Of course this does not include cutting back on watching the L.A. Lakers.
