LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION...
Our house is located in Boston and overlooks the tree-lined Commonwealth
Avenue Mall, which is excellent for tossing around a football or frisbee or
reading on a park bench. One block away is Newbury Street, world famous for
its restaurants, boutiques, and stores. A short walk brings you to Fenway
Park, the Prudential and Copley malls, Boston Common, the Boston Public
Library, as well as countless clubs and restaurants. Also, with the Copley
T station two blocks away, all of Boston can be reached in minutes. Oh
yeah, and MIT is only a five minute bike ride away.
We live in a four-story, century-old brownstone in Boston's affluent Back
Bay complete with walls, floors, and ceilings. What?!? Want more? Well, we
have an open kitchen (no sign-ups, no hassles) to hone those gourmet chef
skills, a roof deck, which is perfect for sunbathing in the summer, and a
T1 connection to MIT's computer network. It isn't necessary to own a
computer, though, as brothers are always willing to share theirs.
Also, for those times when you need to unwind after finishing twenty hours
of problem sets, you can enjoy cable TV, a VCR, a new tournament-sized pool
table, and a new ping pong table. We've even got a sizable stash of
LEGO's. Catering to those of you who stick to a one use-per-wash underwear
policy, in our basement we have industrial-strength washers and dryers.
Our house is in the Back Bay near the Prudential Center ( the tower on
the right). PKT is three blocks from the river and a five minute bike ride
from campus. |
We
also subscribe to the Boston Globe to keep you informed of life
outside of MIT. If you plan on getting away from school, you can park your
car in our seven-car lot out back. Finally, you get five home-cooked meals
a week, prepared by our chef. All this for only about $4500 a year, less
than most living groups at MIT.
