@#$%! IT BROKE AGAIN!

Concerned about earthquakes, Bay Area native Kipp chains his dresser and his loft to the ceiling.
If you live at PKT for a few years, there is one thing that you will certainly learn, how to take care of your house. We take great pride in our house, and we see to it that it stays in good condition. Many incredible improvements have been made to the house over the years. For example, during IAP 2001, the mechanical engineers got together to construct a four-point, simultaneously-actuated hydraulic jack to lift and move our new pool table gently and smoothly avoiding any damage. Also, the pledge class of `02 remodeled our first floor bar, fitting it with beautiful wood and tiling.

Nick strives for the motto by donating blood.
We also take care of everything from installing new toilets and bathroom tile to replacing baseboards to fixing door-handles. Chances are, if there's a problem with something, there's a Phi-Kap up for the job. Most people who have been here for a while have learned the two most valuable pieces of home maintenance: 1. If you want it to move, use WD-40; and 2. If you don't want it to move, use duct tape.

Serving Our Community

Whether in Boston or in Cambridge, at MIT or afar, we Phi Kaps always want to be ready to serve our community. In order to do this, we love hosting neighborhood mixers in which we strive not only to meet our friends but also to show them what an MIT fraternity is all about. In addition, brothers try to devote much free time to participating in community service. From large-scale events, such as City Days, LINKS, Alley Rally, Walk for Hunger, and Project SCORE (yes, it's really a service event), to smaller, one-on-one activities, Phi Kaps dedicate their time and energy to aiding those in need. It's not uncommon to see a brother tutoring others in the dining room or leaving to help disadvantaged kids in a downtown elementary school. In fact, we won the IFC's Community Service Award this past year for all our hard work. It's also not a coincidence that our fraternity motto is "Give, expecting nothing thereof." Brothers always find creative ways to give of ourselves, knowing that the only satisfaction we get is seeing the happiness of others.
