BROTHERS

Sisir Botta `04
Rush Chair
Nashville, TNChemical Engineering

Sisir is a survivor. How do you explain how a curry-loving Hindu took MIT by storm after growing up surrounded by country bumpkins, the Grand Ole Opry, and pick-up trucks? Although he wouldn't stand a chance against those kangaroos in the Australian outback, he easily handled his multiple commitments; he was an on-campus member of the 2004 pledge class, juggled house commitments, attended IFC committee meetings, worked as a UROP at the Whitehead Institute, and captained our B-league basketball team, all while staying on top of his school work. Since he moved in this year, he is still trying to teach us how he does these things.

Hao Hu '04 Whitestone, NYMaterials Science

Hu is the designated driver on pledge trips and random excursions? Look at Hao he holds the lives of the entire pledge class in his hands. As a sophomore pledge, he has plenty of wisdom to share with his pledge brothers, especially on girls and how to avoid paying attention in lecture. This kid from NY not only slicks his way with women but also bangs the stick quite hard at the pool table. You are in safe hands when Double H is in the driver's seat, but be careful that he may recruit you for MIT volleyball.

David Dickinson '02 Culver City, CAPhysics and EECS

At any given time, Dave is probably pursuing the web for random facts. Though you may think he is doing "research," he is more likely reading an article on the web about the increased fertility effects of rodent hairs on orangutans. You might wonder why he cares about impregnating monkeys (we wonder too), but you can't deny the fact that he knows a lot about things nobody cares about. Dave returned to Boston from his year off of spreading his seeds of knowledge in LA, interning at a radio station. But we still don't have the answer to the question that has eluded him so long: "Why is it skate or die?"

John Suh `03 San Diego, CAEECS

Three years ago, John made the ultimate sacrifice. He turned down beautiful weather and a full-ride scholarship to San Diego Community College for cold-ass Boston and MIT. He constantly yearns for his home, but hopefully his girlfriend can make his days better. The Suhman takes out his frustration on the tennis courts, where he consistently schools little Asians. The only thing that keeps him going is his life-long dream of building a boat and sailing it to Korea. Not to kill your dream, John, but you'll probably end up capsizing in the Pacific Ocean and get stranded on an island somewhere where you'll make best friends with a volleyball named Wilson.

Ladd Horvath `05
Treasurer
Niceville, FLAero/Astro

Aye-Laddie!! No, he isn't Scottish; he's just a nice guy from Niceville Florida, right? There's a lot more to this "nice" guy than meets the eye. He's on the MIT Pistol team, and he's pretty good. So don't piss him off, or he might decide to show you just how good he is. He's also a computer aficionado. If you need a movie, a Simpson's episode, or a Family Guy episode, he's probably got it on his computer. But his computer isn't all that interesting; girls are mostly into his pistol. So talk to Ladd, he's a really nice guy, even though he shot and killed a kid, but that's another matter.

Chris Vu `04
San Jose, CAEECS

For a man of small stature, Chris Vu sure is easy to find. In case you're ever looking for him, Vu is the guy in the middle of the dance floor at parties with a circle of women standing around gawking as he dances. Still can't find him? Then he must be practicing with his à cappella group, the Logarhythms. One might think it would be hard to pin down such an active guy, but that's not a problem with Chris Vu, because everybody knows him. Come by during Rush, and you can get to know him, too.
