Subject: RE: IAP Internet Technical Topics course

Hi,

I attended your IAP Internet Technical Topics course. I haven't been able to
spend the time and do all the things I wanted to do after attending your IAP
course. Hence such a long delay in sending you an email.

I was hoping to be able to print the transparencies you used in the course,
which are at
http://www.mit.edu/afs/sipb/project/www/iap/iap-internet.html in postscript
format. I have not been able to open and print the postscript files
successfully
till now. The place I work at (ATG at GTE-BRS in Danvers, MA) is completely a
Microsoft Windows (NT 4.0 and 95) shop. I was wondering if the transparencies
were made suing Microsoft PowerPoint by any chance. In case they were, I would
like to get a copy of the file(s) from you either on a disk or even in person
too.

Kindly suggest any other alternatives that you might have. I am not a student
at
MIT and do not have an access to a postscript printer with an associated
UNIX/Mac machines.

Ideally, I would have liked to go over the printed versions of the
transparencies before giving you my feedback. For now, I will go ahead and
tell
you how I felt at the end of the course: I have been working as a software
programmer/engineer/consultant for the last few years. My education is in
electrical engineering. If I had attended the same course before I started
working (i.e. a few years ago), it would have been very tough to understand it
all as to what should be used where and when. But now, when I did attend your
course during IAP, with my experience, I can relate and understand the
different
topics presented in the course. I think, it is because I see a real example
and
the effects of the topics covered, in my work etc. where I have to coherently
address the issues posed by various parts of the topics covered.

I am interested in teaching some parts of a course like this next year and/or
the following year(s). I would first like to learn the topics thoroughly and
become comfortable with them. I definitely see myself needing your assistance
for that purpose. I would be very happy to send you a copy of my resume either
by email as an attachment or by snail mail as a paper copy or as a fax or I
could meet you around MIT some evening convenient to you and give it to you.

Thank you.

                Yours Sincerely,

                Suchand Pingli
