I don't know if you were able to arrange with the schedules office
for alien to have privs with them to book rooms for SIPB, so I'm
sending this to you. It's taken me longer than it should have to
figure out our needs for this year, so I do ask that *somebody*
get to the registrar's schedules office (7-131 if they haven't
moved since last year) and try to work this out with them as soon
as possible. Historically they have always been most responsive
to friendly in-person visits, second most to phone calls, and
least to e-mail.

What we need:

I've grouped these together by room type. It's best if we can get
a single room of each type for all the required time slots: it
makes reshuffling the schedule as people get unlame and come up
with new class ideas (or as other people punt) much easier.

A: Electronic classroom (1-115 (or 14-0637, but 1-115 strongly
preferred); any other classroom with > 20 or so workstations
is also acceptable, but I know of none). This should be
requested as soon as possible, because these rooms are in
    very high demand during IAP.

1: 2-4pm (or if not possible, 1-3pm or noon-2pm), every day of
any single weed, for python. (The instructor is flexible
enough to recast it into 4 sessions if necessary, so the
short week (T16-F19) is acceptable; it is also acceptable to
schedule this for 4 days of one week and A-2 for the other
      day if necessary.)

2: noon-4pm (or if not possible, 1-5pm) any weekday of iap, for
      brl (an obscure language).

3: 6-8 pm any two MW or TR in a row (i.e. any of
      {1/9, 1/11, 1/16, 1/18}, {1/16, 1/18, 1/23, 1/25},
      {1/22, 1/24, 1/29, 1/31}, {1/23, 1/25, 1/30, 2/1}), for SAS.

B: Medium-sized lecture rooms (capacity ~60: any of 1,390, 2-105,
3-133, or any other classroom with an overhead projector, a
video projector, and an athena workstation):

1: 1/16, 18, 23, and 25, for postscript. (It matters not at all
if this is in a different room from the other classes, which
      are all in the evening.)

2: Meta-request: it would be ideal to just book one of these
rooms solid, 6-11 pm *every* weeknight of IAP. If they
insist on breaking this down or if it's not possible to get
one of these rooms for the solid block all of IAP, here's
the breakdown. (But note (and this is going to sound
weird, but it happened one year): if one of these rooms is
available 6-11 all of IAP *except* one or even two nights,
AND those one or two are during the first and/or last week,
just take the room and we'll make it work.)

      Intro to C M-F 1/8-2/2, 9-11 pm
      UI design TR 1/9, 11, 16, 18, 6-9 pm
      Unix programming TR 1/23, 25, 30, 2/1, 6-9 pm
Intro do debugging WF 1/17, 19, 6-9 pm
      Computer professions MW 1/22, 24 6-9 pm
      Customizing emacs MWF 1/8, 10, 12 6-9 pm
      SQL MWF 1/29, 31, 2/2 6-9 pm

C: Large lecture halls (4-370, 1-190, or any room with a capacity
of > 150, a video projector, an overhead projector, and an
    athena workstation)

  1: M-F, 1/16-19 and 22-26, and (MW 1/29, 31 or TR 1/30, 2/1) 6-9 pm. This breaks down to:

      LaTeX TR 1/16, 18, 23, 25, 6:30-8:30 pm
      Crash Course in C W 1/17, 6-9 pm
      Perl MWF 1/22, 24, 26, 6:30-8:30 pm
      Advanced networking MW 1/29, 31 or TR 1/30, 2/1, 6:30-8:30 pm

Thanks in advance,

---Alex
