Choose good passwords.
- Use Kerberos or other encryption software to keep sensitive
information like passwords from traveling in the clear. In order to
connect securely to your computer with Kerberos, you will need to send
mail to accounts@mit.edu to request a srvtab for
your machine, and use only Kerberized telnet
clients to connect to it.
- Update your system regularly so that would-be attackers have less
time to exploit known bugs: as root, attach linux and run
/mit/linux/redhat/redhat-4.2/i386/updates/update.pl.
