It really isn't all that vital to coursework outside CS; most people just use it to write papers. But I think its an amazing thing. It brings the whole campus together in a new and convenient way. *Three* friends have met girlfriends over zephyr, if you can believe it! :) Its also funny to see professors giving their email addresses and saying that email is the best way to get in touch with them. I wonder if Project Athena doesn't give a hint at what the rest of the country will be like in ten years... highly linked electronically. I saw a news item that said there is now a bank of vt100 emulators at an airport in California so that people can check their email. :) Its $.25 a minute or something, but the idea is still cool! :)
