Guessing an MIT E-Mail Address
Here's a method that will usually give you a valid e-mail address
if you have a URL:
- If the URL starts with http://stuff.mit.edu/people/, use the
portion of the URL after that, up until the next '/', and add
"@mit.edu" at the end. For example, for the URL
http://stuff.mit.edu/people/sipb0/foo/bar/baz.html, the e-mail
address is sipb0@mit.edu
- If the URL starts with http://stuff.mit.edu/~, use the
portion of the URL after that, up until the next '/', and add
"@mit.edu" at the end. For example, for the URL
http://stuff.mit.edu/~sipb0/home.html, the e-mail address is
sipb0@mit.edu
- If the URL begins with the format with
http://web.mit.edu/name/www, extract the name (i.e., the part
between "http://web.mit.edu/" and "/www"), and
add "@mit.edu" at the end. For example, if the URL is
http://web.mit.edu/sipb0/www/, the e-mail address is
sipb0@mit.edu
