How to create new GD fonts, e.g. for ISO Latin 1

Note: Some X fonts are 7 bit although they have suffix -iso8859-1.

0. Go to the gd directory

1. Start an X font server

	xfs &

2. Create the fonts

This requires converting, for each of the five fonts, 

     (a) from X font server format to bdf, and 
     (b) from bdf format to gd font format.  

This is accomplished by 

     cp -p makefonts <GDDIR>
     cd <GDDIR>
     ./makefonts
     make clean all


The list below shows some other choices:
