Peter Child's song cycle "Jaguar and the Moon," to texts by the Nicaraguan poet Pablo Antonio Cuadra conjured up an atmosphere and sustained it. From song to song, or within individual ones, you felt the tension between luxuriance and economy, expression and its denial, the contrasting personalities of voice and guitar. Maria Tegzes (soprano) and William Curtis (guitar) did well by the variety and eloquence of this well-crafted music.
