			Gentleman's Handbook


	Getlemen are one of the rarest commodities in the world of today. 
 Getlemen are often scorned by Feminists and male chauvinists alike.  Being 
a Gentlemen is a trying occupation which can only be fully appreciated by a 
true lady or another Gentleman.

	One of the most obvious points of being a Gentleman is Etiquette, or the 
do's and do not's of polite society.  Etiquette is actually the smallest 
part of Gentlemanly behavior.  The French call Etiquette \italic{Savior 
Faire, } which literally means "to know to do."  Knowing what to do and why 
you do it are two intrisicly different things.  The underlying reasons 
behind the points of Etiquette are more important than the actions 
themselves.  Anyone can hold open a door out of training, while a Gentelman 
holds open a door for simpler yet grander reasons.

	Another often exagerrated aspect of being a Gentleman is physical 
apperance.  It is true that a Gentleman will always appear kept and clean, 
but anyone can fall on bad times including the noblest of Gentleman, and 
end up in rags.  Also anyone with money can pay to look refined.  But a 
Gentleman in rags shows more character than a Knave in silk ever could.  

	The most important part of being a Gentleman is character.  Character 
encompasses honor, compassion, tolerence, respect, humility, and pride. 
 Each virtue seperately is actually detracting from good character.  No one 
appreciates someone who is overly modest, nor do people respect those who 
always aquiesce.  Those who are overly compassionate or tolerant often lose 
sight of Justice, those who are too proud are often frowned on as arrogant.

	Together all of these virtues establish a personal Code of Honor.  Each 
individual needs to establish an equilibrium inside himself, measuring each 
virtue against the others.  Everyone's Code of Honor is different, as 
recipes are always different; there are dozens of ways of making bread, yet 
none of them are wrong.

	If every man was a true Gentleman then the world would still not be 
perfect.  There is a greater force than man on Earth, some say it is 
nature, some say it is the Devil or original sin, whatever it may be it 
causes Chaos that leads to the downfall of mankind.  Gentleman have been 
around since the beginning of time, standing out as the noblest, fairest, 
and bravest in their society, on their labors society stayed together and 
evolved into what it is today.  It is the responsibility of today's 
Gentleman to pass on a better world for tomorrow, something which a open 
door can never do.\
