Writing is a big part of what we – students, professionals, faculty – do, and effective writing is an important skill. These very brief notes provide some tips, admittedly biased by the author's field and preferences.

• The essay "How to write Mathematics," by Paul Halmos, is a gem.

• "Mathematical Writing", by Knuth et al., is very thorough. For the impatient, the 27 rules offered in the first 6 pages are very valuable.

• "Writing a Math Phase Two Paper," by Kleiman, offers plenty of useful guidance.

• Last but not least, the presentation of "Ten Simple Rules for Mathematical Writing," by Bertsekas, offers a structured approach.
